Bourbon Cider Cocktails

This key to this cocktail's success lies in its ice; tailor the shape and texture of your ice to your tastes. Use silicone molds for variety in shapes and sizes, and the ease with which you can pull out the ice.

Know that the amount of bourbon you use determines how slushy or solid the ice will be. Alcohol does not freeze so the less bourbon you pour, the harder the ice. Adjust proportions of cider and bourbon accordingly.

Yield: 4-8 cocktails , Prep time: 5-10 minutes , Cook time: none

1. In a plastic bag combine the apple cider, bourbon, maple syrup, lemon zest and dash of cinnamon; close the bag and shake aggressively.
2. Pour the cider mixture into ice molds and then place in the freezer for at least 6-12 hours, or until the ice cubes solidify.
3. When you are ready to serve, place 1-2 ice cubes in rock glasses and pour the hard cider over top. Serve immediately.

Tips + Tricks

**We used Angry Orchard cider for this recipe, but you should use whichever cider is in your fridge right now. Always mix with what you like to drink.
**Make a lot of these to keep in the freezer. Once they have solidified, wrap generously with plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.
