Dark Chocolate + Orange Grilled Sandwiches

Stacked and crisped in minutes, these Dark Chocolate + Orange Grilled Sandwiches are the ultimate add to any darn day. Make them with the kids and watch grown-ups devour them, a sweet-salty sensation to become a permanent part of your meal plans.

Play with the proportions of flavors by adding a spoonful of orange marmalade, or substituting a smear of Nutella for the hunks of Hershey's we suggest. And whatever you do... Don't. Forget. The. Salt. Kosher is always our first choice, but sea salt would be good here too. All you need is a pinch to help cut the sweetness and really brighten the flavors.

Yield: about 15 sandwiches , Prep time: 15 minutes , Cook time: 15 minutes

  1. In a small bowl combine the softened butter and the zest of the 2 oranges. Stir together until evenly combined.
  2. Cut your baguette into 1/2-1/4-inch-thick slices. Layer 2-3 pieces of chocolate between each pair of slices. Smear the outsides of each sandwich with the soft orange butter.
  3. Preheat a large nonstick sauté pan to medium-high heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook until golden brown; flip and to crisp the second side to golden brown.
  4. Remove the sandwiches from the sauté pan, sprinkle with salt, and serve warm.
