Simple Salad with Homemade Ranch Dressing

Homemade ranch dressing will rock. your. world. Made in minutes with a couple pulses in the food processor, it's another argument for simple, fresh, homemade.

Serve this salad for supper tonight with chicken breasts or flank steak hot off the grill. Delight in the easy mix of flavor, temperatures, and textures when tender spinach, salty, crispy bacon, sweet, warm tomatoes, and creamy, cool dressing come together in every bite. And please forgive us if -- when -- you are inspired to throw out all the bottled dressings you have lining the inside of your fridge door. Things like this happen when your world has been rocked.

Yield: 4 dinner salads , Prep time: 5-10 minutes , Cook time: 30 minutes

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. As the oven warms, mix the dressing: Combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, parsley, dill, chives, Worcestershire, and garlic powder in a food processor. Blend together until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Taste and season accordingly with salt and pepper. Pour the milk through the spout until the dressing is the preferred thickness. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until service.
  4. Dump the tomatoes into a shallow baking dish coated with olive oil. Stir the tomatoes in the olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper. Roast in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until they burst.
  5. Toss together the spinach, bacon, and warm tomatoes; drizzle with the homemade ranch. Serve right away.
